Tribute Month Round Up #2!

Hi again everyone, it’s Emma here again from Emma and her Machine with the second round up post for Sewcialists Tribute Month.

I’m amazed by all the Tribute Month posts coming in and I feel so inspired! I hope you will be too, so here’s your round up!

First up is Silverluna88 who made some fabulous looking Sew Over It Ultimate Trousers  inspired by Sew With Shelley after seeing them on her vlogs. She chose a great fabric and particularly inspired me, as trousers are my next challenge!

Silver is clearly loving Tribute Month as she has also made the Sew Over It Lulu Dress inspired by a couple of fellow sewers who inspire her to give things a go: Rosabella.angelicaNatural Dane and Lifting Pins and Needles. I love this style of this simple shift and it’s such a great colour!

This is my week! And my morning! I just finished @sewoveritlondon #soiluludress During the weekend #soikimonojacket, yesterday #soiultimatetrousers and today #soiluludress! @lisacomfort, @rosabella.angelica @naturaldane @liftingpinsandneedles inspired me to enjoy sewing. I watch them and I know I can! I got a sewing machine for my birthday when I was in college. Then I learned basic things. After that, it took a long time for me to start sewing again. I am really enjoying at the moment that I can do whatever I want. I love supportive and powerful videos! Thank you! #isew #tributemonthsewing #ilovetosew #sewingaddict #sewing #sewcialist #sewinglove #sewingproject #sewingpattern #nähenmachtglücklich #sewingisfun #sewingismyyoga #selflesssewing

Julian created a super cool shirt in tribute to Peter Lappin. See his post here. He has copied a bright Comic Book Shirt which Peter made and it’s fantastic and really nostalgic. It’s a great post too, so check it out.

Next up is the lovely redwsews with a fantastic flamingo offering. It’s the By Hand London Kim Dress which was a complete copy of a dress Roisin made. I think this dress is so summery and fun. It definitely shows that copying is sometimes the way to go! Becca looks amazing in this dress.

Next up is our very own Gillian from Crafting A Rainbow who has made the Helen’s Closet Suki Kimono in tribute to Meg. Find her post here. Gillian was looking to replicate Meg’s easy to wear style and this relaxed outfit definitely fits the bill.

This next make is one of my personal favourites! Sara has paid tribute to Rachel at Maker.style by copying her Lemon Closet Case Patterns, Ebony Dress.  It looks amazing with a belt too.

I think she has it spot on and you can read more about her dress here. I think it really showcases how we sewcialists inspire each other from across the globe!

Von of Vonmoranville did a hack of the Sorbetto, inspired by Bridget.abbas. I think we have probably all tried this free pattern at some point so it’s fantastic to see interesting takes on it, like this lovely Ruffle hem.

An entire outfit was made by Chrichrimano with her tribute to Julia Bobbin who see says inspired her to start garment sewing. Her skirt is the Snap Dragon Skirt from Tenterhook Patterns which is aimed at curvy girls and the top is the Vanessa Pouzet Wanted Tee which I really recommend and have made a tutorial and translation for myself. I think she looks fantastic.

Ok guys so August is #tributemonthsewing over at @sewcialists and I thought I would honour one of the sewists that inspired me to venture into garment sewing. Can you tell who I'm *attempting* to channel? Her poses are actually really hard to replicate😄 Still, nothing? Ok it's @juliabobbin … I really love her style, specially her vintagey sexy looks – but not sure that I'm doing her justice though 😂 I've used her tutorial for using wide elastic as a waistband a couple of times and must say it's pretty brilliant. I totally copied one of her skirts using the pattern #snapdragonskirt by #tenterhookpatterns @tenterhooktones and the top is the #tee-shirtwanted by @vanessapouzet . Apparently I was looking so sweet a butterfly had to inspect me🌺 #sewcialists #curvysewing #curvysewingcollective #sewing #curvygirlscanwearstripes #cscmakes

Anna Jo Sews made up Simplicity 8342 top in tribute to The Crafty Pin-Up. This was particularly inspiring to me as I’m currently making this myself for the Simplicity Summer Challenge. I think it is really well executed and suits Anna really well. Many of us were inspired by Abi’s amazing versions of it, I’m sure. Anna also did an amazing Inspiration Post earlier in the month.

Ofermesew made a lose style hybrid top  after seeing quite a few Sewcialists, including Gillian make the Ebony Tee. Her top captures the relaxed style of the Ebony perfectly!

Claire tried to replicate a dress she had seen Allie make earlier this year. She seems really disappointed with the results but I think it’s a fabulous dress. Maybe one to try again though, Claire?

Another fellow Sewcialist, Kate of Craftastrophies paid homage to Heather of Knitnbee by creating a BlueGingerdoll Mae Blouse with a really cool neckline.

She says ‘most of my makes are already directly inspired by other sewists’ makes.’ which I really agree with, I think we take ideas from others all the time. See her post here.

Laura of Cotton Reel Studio was super grateful for the Tribute Month Challenge as she made her Sew Over It Eve Dress after being inspired by Bianca at Sleepless in Bavaria. Both the dress are so feminine and beautiful, no wonder she was so inspired.

Going above and beyond in her tribute Bridget of Inafankle made three shirts in homage to Carolyn at Diary of a Sewing Fanatic she did these as a production line and thanks Carolyn for giving her the inspiration to work through her sewing queue!

I think this is a great way to go about sewing (if you’re organised enough) and it’s really paid off for Bridget.

I’m sure you’ll agree, there’s been some amazing and varied makes in this round up. They’ll be another coming soon. In the meantime, I’ve made another tribute too which I’m sure will be in the next round up but if you fancy a read find me here! Or over on instagram for discussion and pictures! See you all soon!
