A small sampling of Sewcialists to fire your creativity!

Inspiration doesn’t have an age, race, or religion…or maybe it’s a religion of it’s own. One where anyone can come and worship at the altar of beauty and creativity. There are so many voices, each with their own unique additions to this creative adventure, and obviously I can’t list them all here, but I’ve narrowed it down a few of my absolute favorites in the hopes that you’ll find something that inspires you. If you aren’t already, I highly recommend that you check out each of these lovely, talented ladies!

Why? She is nearly my body twin, though I’ll readily admit that she wears it better. We also have similar taste in sewing patterns, but she’s a lot faster! Cut me some slack though, her kids don’t require her constant attention like mine still do! 😉 I confess to seeing if she’s reviewed a pattern I’m eyeing from the Big 4 before I snap it up at the store now, because (more often than not) if I like it she’s already made it! Which I hope doesn’t make me sound like a creepy stalker… 😳

Why? Everything she makes is flawless. Her photography is spot on. She holds you to a higher standard and makes you want to improve. To me, that is the best kind of inspiration.

Sew My Time

Why? We share a similar build, but she has way more style. She makes the clothes, not the other way around. I love how she embraces color and fluid fabrics. Plus, she really knows how to find the perfect backdrop for her pictures.

Why? She’s delightfully girly-girl. Every time she holds up a piece of fabric, I think “WANT!” Her projects from her patterns are always simply gorgeous, exactly the kind of underthings I want to wear–no boring beige basics! And besides, who can resist that fabulous accent?!

Saturday Night Stitch

Why? The joy she gets from every make radiates through the computer screen, and it’s infectious. She makes you want to run to the sewing room and get to work. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s also got a bit of a thing for Vogue 1440, which I’ve also made and wear so much I think I’m going to have to make it again, as soon as I can muster up the effort to retrace it. 😉

Pretty Grievances

Why? Her writing just draws you in. Her descriptions of her sewing escapades never fail to charm, and her reviews of “fashion designers” are always fun. Also, she’s the genius behind Jungle January, need I say more?

So tell me, are you inspired yet?

I occasionally blog at Splinters&Stitches where I talk about sewing, pet peeves, home/woodworking projects, or whatever else strikes my fancy that day.
